Privacy Policy

Last updated 2026-05-07

This is the privacy policy for Pemberton (the “Software”), a Claude Code skill and helper CLI sold by Zackariah Spooner (“we”, “us”). It is written in plain English on purpose. If you are a lawyer reading this looking for footguns, the section that matters is “What We Do Not Do” — most of the policy is “we cannot collect things we never receive.”

What Pemberton does

Pemberton is software that runs entirely on your computer. When you invoke the /wiki-build skill, the software:

  1. Reads sources you have explicitly enabled (your local folders, your Obsidian vault, your Apple Notes database, your Claude Code session history) directly from disk on your Mac.
  2. Sends batches of that content to Claude Haiku via Claude Code’s built-in subagent dispatch, which uses your own Claude account’s authentication and quota. We do not see, intermediate, or proxy these requests.
  3. Writes a markdown wiki to ~/wiki/ on your computer.
  4. Inserts a managed block into ~/.claude/CLAUDE.md summarizing your context, again on your computer only.

What We Collect

From your use of the Software, we collect: nothing.

There is no telemetry, no analytics SDK, no error reporter, no usage beacon, no install ping. The Software does not contain network code that talks to any server we operate. You can confirm this by reading the source — the helper package is open source and shipped as plain TypeScript.

The only network traffic Pemberton initiates is the Haiku subagent dispatch performed by Claude Code, which goes from your computer to Anthropic’s servers under your existing Anthropic relationship. We are not in that path.

What We Receive

From your purchase, we receive (via our payment processor):

  • Your email address (so we can send you the download link and a license key)
  • Your country (for tax purposes, set automatically by the processor)
  • A purchase amount (the $4.99 you paid)

We do not receive your name, billing address, full card number, or any identifying information beyond your email. Our payment processor — Stripe (Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy, or Polar) — acts as the merchant of record and handles VAT and card processing. Their privacy policy applies to that data; ours does not, because we never see it.

What We Do With Your Email

  • We email you the download link and license key once.
  • If you opt in to product update emails (separate checkbox at checkout), we may email you 2–4 times per year about new versions. You can unsubscribe one click. If you don’t opt in, we do not email you again unless you contact us first.
  • We do not sell, rent, share, or trade your email with anyone.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not host any data you index. Your wiki, your sources, your CLAUDE.md — all on your Mac.
  • We do not run a server that processes your data.
  • We do not log queries, batches, prompts, or extraction outputs.
  • We do not have access to your Anthropic account.
  • We do not have access to your local files, your Obsidian vault, your emails, your calendar, your messages, or anything else you connect to Pemberton.
  • We do not fingerprint your device.
  • We do not use cookies. (We have a one-page sales site; the only third party present is the payment processor’s checkout iframe.)

Your Rights

You can:

  • Email zackariah_spooner@alumni.brown.edu and ask us to delete the email address we have on file. We will reply within 7 days and confirm deletion.
  • Request a refund within 30 days of purchase, no questions asked. Email zackariah_spooner@alumni.brown.edu.
  • Continue using Pemberton after your refund — but the license key you received will be revoked, and major-version upgrades will be unavailable.
  • Stop using Pemberton at any time. Delete the helper package (npm uninstall -g pemberton-helpers), delete the skill file (rm ~/.claude/skills/wiki-build.md), and optionally delete ~/wiki/ and the <!-- PEMBERTON:BEGIN --> / <!-- PEMBERTON:END --> block in your ~/.claude/CLAUDE.md. We are not involved.

Anthropic, Apple, GitHub, Cloudflare

  • Anthropic processes your Claude Code subagent calls. Their privacy practices apply. We have no business relationship with Anthropic.
  • Apple processes payment if you ever buy through the Mac App Store (we currently do not sell there).
  • GitHub hosts the helper package source code. If you read the source there, GitHub’s policy applies.
  • Cloudflare may host our small static sales site. If we ever ship a connector that requires an OAuth callback (we do not in v1), a stateless Cloudflare Worker proxies the OAuth code redirect and stores nothing.

Changes

If we materially change this policy we will note it at the top of this document and email customers who opted in to product updates. Material changes only — fixing typos, adding clarifying sentences, or naming a new payment processor will not generate emails.
